Ladies and Gentlemen
Temperatures are back on the plus side and have put a
damper on local snowmobiling and cross country skiing. Early forecasts are that
the lake level will be higher this year than last. Mother Nature keeps us on
our toes.

Issues Update
OPP
This past week the Ontario Civilian Police Commission agreed
to permit the transition of policing in Midland to the OPP. It is expected that
on February 8th the MPS officers and staff who have accepted positions
with OPP will be sent for training at the Police College. In parallel all outstanding
issues on severance and contracts will go to the police conciliation/arbitration
process.
Midland Bay Landing
Over the last few months the Town has received a lot of
interest from various developers about our waterfront property. This
underscores the need to get our Municipal Development Corporation in place,
under proper Council direction. I expect the Town will post for MDC Board members
early spring. Another opportunity for you
to get involved.
